KOVAKKAI PORIYAL

Kovakkai in english known as ivy gourd, which has many medicinal values it is rich in beta-carotene.
In traditional medicine these fruits have been used to treat leprosy,fever,asthma,bronchitis and jaundice.
A paste of leaves is applied to the skin to treat scabies.
It is a healthy poriyal which can be taken often in our food as sambar,poriyal,etc,..

INGREDIENTS

Kovakkai-150gm
Onion-2
Tomato-2
Tumeric powder-1/4 tbspn
Chilly powder-1tbspn
Dhania powder-2tbspn
Salt-1tbspn
Water-1/2 cup

TEMPERING

Oil-3tbspn
Mustard seeds-1/2tbspn
Cumin seeds-1/2 tbspn

METHOD

wash and cut the kovakkai



add mustard seeds in oil

add cumin seeds

add onions

add tomato

saute them well nd add salt

add kovakkai 



add chilli powder, dhania powder

add salt,turmeric powder

saute them well
add water and leave it for 10 min

switch of the flame when it is cooked well

serve hot with coconut rice..
It will taste great.......
